Case Study
Cravings By 99 Ranch Marketplace
56,000 sqft
Warehouse Style Grocery Store
Chino, CA
New Twist on a Local Favorite
The first of its kind in the Chino area, Cravings by 99 Ranch Market is a multi-vendor food hall centered inside the 56,000 square foot warehouse style grocery store. Bringing flavor and fusion to the community, Cravings is a new concept capturing the attention of locals. Pinhero Construction developed nine tenants to occupy the decorative space, including Red Envelope, Mad Bun, and Tenori.
Popular vendors like Shomi Noods, Oi Asian Fusion, and Cauldron Ice Cream have seen multiple other locations around Southern California following the success of Cravings. The market delivers a promising future to the supermarket and diversifies the surrounding areas. Guests can even enjoy Piju, a specialty bar serving international flavors of beer and wine.

The Elements
56,000 square feet of space required a large team effort from Pinhero Construction, utilizing dozens subcontractors and staff for every element of the project. Assortments of wood, tile, glass, and material were used during construction, along with hundreds of finishes and light fixtures illuminating each tenant. Various artists across southern California contributed to painting custom designs on the dining area floor.
What You’ll Find
The grocery store is characteristically larger than the average 99 Ranch Market, 16,000 feet larger. Accented by modern décor and eclectic artwork, the new culinary experience is shaking things up in the Chino food scene. General contractor Pinhero assisted with the design build phase to encourage guests to relax and unwind at the dining area, which holds seating for 250 to 300 people.
Vendors offer diverse cuisine, combining cultural influences to curate dynamic flavors. Mad Bun serves up specialty Chinese bao buns while Wingman Kitchen incorporates American and Asian signatures to create crispy fried chicken and rice entrees. Shomi Noods gives ramen a southern California twist and Dos Chinos pushes the boundaries with Mexican-Asian inspired dishes.
Cool your mouth off from spices dishes with signature creations from Cauldron Ice Cream and modern Taiwanese pastries from Pink Promise.
Aside from the variety available at the food courts, the grocery store offers a diverse assortment of global and local foods in individual and bulk sizes. The meat department carries a wide selection of precut, packaged items making convenient for customers to grab and go. Everything from eggs and cheese to Chinese yogurt can be located in the dairy section, and shoppers can snag hard to find vegetables, like bok-choy, in the produce area.
Popular Asian snacks can be found located throughout the store, from giant Pocky to Taiwanese pea crackers. The frozen section includes a range of dumplings and quick meal options, along with ice cream and frozen treats.
The Results
Pinhero specializes in building restaurants with cultural influences, with recent clients including The Halal Guys, Oi Asian Fusion, and Afters Ice Cream, each known for their signature items and touchstones.
Assisting with the design-build process allowed Pinhero to navigate the specific placement of each client to encourage future collaboration. Pinhero has since worked with many Cravings tenants on other large-scale projects.
Just a few years after completing construction for Cravings, Pinhero finished a similar project in Stanton called Rodeo 39 Public Market. The 37,000 square foot food hall is notably similar to Cravings, even hosting some of the same vendors like Oi Asian Fusion and Tenori.
