The Fight to Save Small Businesses
NOV. 30 – The food and beverage industry continues to grapple with the effects of COVID-19 restrictions, estimating about 2 million workers laid off since February. According to the Independent Restaurant Coalition, the food and beverage industry employees nearly 11 million people, and accounts for 3.5% of the U.S GDP.
During the week of Nov 18-25, Pinhero took to social media to spotlight clients powering through the pandemic and ways to support them, using the hashtag #saverestaurants.
“We’ve had the opportunity to work with restaurants of all sizes and recognize how important they are to our foundation”, said Sunny Pinhero, CEO of Pinhero Construction, Inc. “As a general contractor, we felt a compelling responsibility to bring awareness to our clients and help out in any way we can.”
The campaign features a total of 20 restaurants spread out over the week, ranging from small mom and pop shops to large food halls. Pinhero also shared specific meals guests can find at that business and quarantine-friendly activities to accompany them.
The movement is part of a larger mission from the Independent Restaurant Coalition. The organization is fighting for Congress to pass the Restaurants Act of 2020 which would provide financial aid for independent restaurants.
If approved, the bill would provide a $120 billion Independent Restaurant Revitalization fund assisting small restaurants affected by COVID-19.
